West Central middle school teachers, grades 6-8, get to select students they see showing outstanding character throughout the month. Teachers watch for things such as high-quality work, putting in extra effort, working well with others and more.
Once the selections are made by the teachers, the students receive the names of the nominees and the nominees receive a letter that indicates the specific traits that the teachers saw in them throughout the month.
The winners for the October 8th grade Student of the Month were Whitney Pageler, daughter of Alexander and Ashley Pageler of Humboldt and Camden Bjergaard, son of Brad and Laura Bjergaard of Hartford.
Other boys that were nominated, left to right, were Hunter Wagner and Dawson Junck. The nominees for the girls were, left to right, Taylor Boren and Sydney Skari.
At the end of each quarter, teachers recognize students that have displayed outstanding character. The first quarter Students of Character were Lyric Riepma, daughter of Randy and Leigh Riepma of Sioux Falls, Ada Strunk, daughter of David and Connie Strunk of Hartford, Cade Foster, son of Nick and Nicole Foster of Hartford and Taten VanOverbeke, son of Troy and Jenn VanOverbeke.
