Buffalo Ridge Brewing will be sponsoring the Hartford Community Blood Drive on December 9 from 12-6 pm.

This is not a new event for Buffalo Ridge Brewing. According to Buffalo Ridge Brewing Callie Tuschen, they sponsor a blood drive as often as they can which is about every two months.

Tuschen explained Kim Jensen with the Red Cross had reached out asking if they wanted to sponsor a blood drive because some of the other businesses in the area were hosting blood drives. “We like to do this for our community,” Tuschen said. “Our space sits empty other days that we aren’t open so we like to look for ways to use it and help out the community along the way. It helps get blood to where it needs to go.”

The last time Buffalo Ridge Brewing sponsored the blood drive, Red Cross brought in three or four beds so they could work simultaneously with volunteers, according to Tuschen.

Appointments can be scheduled in order to donate blood. As of this week, there were eight open slots left, said Tuschen. If someone wants to sign up to donate, an appointment can be scheduled at www.rcblood.org/appt.

Tuschen explained they also sponsor community blood drives through Avera and Sanford. “I alternate between the two places. Red Cross reached out first. However, people need blood wherever they live so I bounce back and forth so that we can help out both,” Tuschen said, “After December’s, our next one we do will be in February, 2021.”
