Crooks has been starting to clear out space for the new Minnehaha Funeral Home that is going to start construction in the next year or so.

Crooks’ mayor Butch Oseby has been preparing the land alongside the city of Crooks in order to move the black soil and clay away from the future lots.

“The Crooks Housing Commission is paying is paying all the clay over there and the Crooks Development Commission is paying to get the grass and black dirt off in order for us to make space to dump the clay,” Oseby states.

As the community prepares for the new funeral home’s arrival, Doug Nohava, director of Minnehaha Funeral Homes, says the company is “really excited” for the physical presence within Crooks.

“We have served Crooks from the beginning in 1928 and we look forward to having a physical presence in the town,” Nohava said.

Nohava goes on to say that Crooks’ branch of the Minnehaha Funeral Home will look like their other branches on the outside, but the inside will hold unique pieces as well.

“We have some non-traditional pieces planned, such as a fellowship area and outside venue,” Nohava states.

Construction for the new funeral home will take place in 2022.
