Formerly Brandon

Dennis was born in Strandquist, Minn., on Oct. 16, 1934, to Adolph Kleinvachter and Gladys Holmstrom. He was a Lincoln High School graduate in Thief River Falls, Minn. He later graduated from the University of St. Thomas, St. Paul, Minn., with a degree in accounting in 1956. After college, he enlisted in the United States Army and served throughout Europe with the Army Audit Agency until honorably discharged in 1959.

Dennis married Patricia Ann Burns on Oct. 8, 1960, in Worthington, Minn., “the greatest moment of his life.” They had four children, Kim, Tom, Kelly and Julie. Dennis was a special agent with the Internal Revenue Service for 32 years and retired in 1987. Dennis then served as Brandon city mayor from 1989-1997. Dennis and Patti relocated to Sun Lakes, Ariz., in 1997 where they lived until 2013 when Patti passed away. Dennis and Patti loved travelling throughout their married life with their children and after retiring, pursued their passion of road tripping around the country in their RV and made dream trips to the Caribbean, Hawaii and Mexico.

Throughout his life, Dennis was an avid hunter, fisherman and golfer. He was also an active member of Risen Savior Church, the Elks Lodge, Director of the Brandon Optimist Club and was a 4th Degree Knight in the Knights of Columbus.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Kimberly Dolan (David) of Rapid City, Thomas Kleinvachter (Shelly) of Humboldt, Kelly Kleinvachter of Falls Church, Virg., and Julie Glauvitz-Ashby (John) of Colorado Springs, Colo.; siblings Arlette, Carol, Ivadell (Don), Beverly (David), Susan, Ronald (Diane); eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.

Dennis was preceded in death by his parents, wife Patricia, sister Lucille, and brothers Robert and James.

A Mass of Christian Burial was held Saturday, June 13, at Risen Savior Catholic Church in Brandon.

Arrangements were provided by George Boom Funeral Home.
