Edna died at Good Samaritan Center in Lennox. Edna Lorrine (Reit) Steineke was born July 13, 1930, at Ben Claire fto John and Jennie (Vierhout) Reit. The family moved to Sioux Falls where Edna attended Washington Senior High School. Following her education, she worked at the Sioux Falls Air Base.
On January 31, 1949, she was united in marriage to Frank Steineke in Luverne, Minn. The couple made their home outside of Hartford where Edna became a homemaker, farm wife and loving mother. Edna enjoyed tending to her chickens, gardening and always looked forward to growing flowers and vegetables. She canned in the fall. In her free time, she enjoyed doing crossword puzzles and word puzzles, as well as organizing coupons and rebates.
Edna was always ready with a meal on the table to feed family and friends. She looked forward to Christmas time when she would host her family. She adored her grandchildren and loved catching up on their lives. She also enjoyed attending local fairs to hear the Old Time Fiddlers as well as playing in several card clubs with friends. A traditional farm wife, Edna dedicated her life to caring for others, making sure all their needs were met and operations were running smoothly.
Edna was a member of Christ Lutheran Church.
Grateful for having shared her life are her daughter, Linda Gillespie (Tom), Parker, sons, Dennis Steineke (Heidi), Hartford; Ronald Steineke (Sherry), Hartford; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Frank; five brothers and three sisters.
Funeral Services were held October 8, 2021, at Christ Lutheran Church, Hartford. Interment took place at the Hartford Cemetery.
