The Colton Hustlers 4-H Club had a day of planning and building for their 4-H year with an Officer Retreat which was held on December 28 in Colton.
This is the first year that the Hustlers 4-H Club held an Officer Retreat, according to Club Historian Ireland McAreavey. The meeting included the Hustlers 4-H Club Officers which are:
President – Josie Johnson
Vice President – Charlie Cody
Secretary – Hadlie Johnson
Treasurer – Rylin Fods
Historian – Ireland McAreavey
In addition to the club officers, the club leaders also attended the retreat day. The leaders include Rhegan Oberg, Sarah VanDerVliet and Heather Cody.
McArevey explained the officers discussed their plans for National 4-H week which takes place in October. The club is looking to do a Trunk or Treat event for this in Colton which may include animals at the event such as a cow, horse, sheep and goats.
The club officers also spoke about their end of the year banquet which is held in September and includes club members and their families.
McAreavey indicated there were several other ideas that were discussed with regards to service projects which are still in progress.
After the brainstorming for upcoming projects and events, the officers and leaders went to Sioux Falls where they participated in an escape room for a team building event. McAreavey added, “We escaped!”
The Hustlers 4-H year runs from October to September and they hope to continue this retreat as an annual event going forward.
