The West Central High School (WCHS) Band, under the direction of Danny Eye, performed at the Hartford Park on Monday, June 21.
Each summer, the WCHS Band performs a public concert while rehearsing for their busy upcoming season. The band played several familiar songs and had the crowd clapping along. Refreshing root beer floats were also served to the audience.
Outgoing West Central Music Association President, Darcy Brown, and long-time member, Amy Anderson, were recognized for their hard work and contributions to the West Central Music Association (WCMA).
The WCMA is currently fundraising for a new band trailer and matching donations of up to $5,000. In a surprise announcement, it was revealed that thanks to the generosity of an anonymous local business, $10,000 has been donated to the cause. Along with the Music Boosters memberships, which have totaled $1,750, the group is well on its way to raising the $20,000 needed for a new trailer.
“You will also see the new band uniforms out on the field so thank you all,” stated Eye.  The band then played “Celebration,” because, as Eye said, “We have a lot to celebrate tonight!”
