Ryan Beck, 2017 graduate from West Central high school, was homecoming royalty his senior year of high school. Although he didn’t win that, Ryan later became the 2017 prom king.
Although Beck focused on academics and news media for the school paper during his high school career, his college years at Black Hills State University (BHSU) have proven to be a little more active. Beck has been very involved in his residence life. He was Residence Assistant (RA) his sophomore year, Senior Residence Assistant (SRA) his junior year and this year, Beck earned the role as an Assistant Complex Director. Beck is also a member of Residence Housing Association (RHA) and rec sports for flag football and volleyball.
Beck is currently working towards his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with a specialization in management and has made the Dean’s List five out of six semesters; currently sitting at a 3.837 GPA.
Now, at BHSU, Beck is back in the familiar role of homecoming candidate.
In order to be elected as a homecoming candidate at BHSU, a student needs to be anonymously nominated by another pier. From there, the nominees are notified and are required to complete a form online with additional information. Once the forms are completed, a panel picks their top choices for each; five candidates for king and five candidates for queen. After all of that, BHSU announces the candidates and the other students, including the new freshmen, vote for their homecoming king and queen.
Now all there is to do is wait for the results! Coronation is set for Thursday, October 1.
