After moving back to Hartford, Rochelle “Shelly” Heerde decided to join Hartford Area Fire and Rescue (HAFR) because she loved helping others. “Linda Hartman asked me to come join the HAFR after I had helped out with an accident with family,” Heerde said. She continued, “I moved to Sioux Falls, then moved back to Hartford and decided that I needed to give this a try as I love helping others.”
Heerde has been with HAFR since September 11, 2019, and as of January 27, 2021, became a Certified Firefighter I and II.
Mom of two boys, Hayden (8) and Hudson (4 ½), Heerde works as a toddler teacher at Christ Lutheran Daycare.
During her free time, Heerde can be found hanging with family, dirt track racing and hunting and fishing. Heerde also enjoys playing bean bags, darts and driving back country roads “soaking up God’s beautiful country!”
