On Thursday, June 11, deputies and Hartford Area Fire and Rescue responded to a call on Trojan Avenue in Hartford around 5:40 p.m. after receiving a call of a six-week-old boy for a cardiac arrest.  After the Hartford Area Fire and Rescue team arrived at the scene, it was determined that the boy had suffered “several bite wounds” and was airlifted from Hartford to a Sioux Falls hospital.  The boy has been resuscitated partially while in the airlift, but later passed away at the hospital.

The dog has been identified as the family’s Belgian Malinois and has been taken by animal control to the Sioux Falls Humane Society.
