Kaylee Marie Torgerson, Harrisburg, passed away on Wednesday, December 7, 2022. Kaylee was 12 years old.
Daughter of Philip and Jennifer (Florey) Torgerson, Kaylee Marie was born on June 2, 2010 in Sioux Falls. She was raised in Harrisburg and attended Liberty Elementary and was a 7th grade student at Harrisburg South Middle School.
Although only 12 years old, Kaylee affected people in her lifetime. Kaylee had a kind and loving soul with patience and understanding that anyone could see that met her for the first time. She was known as a social butterfly, loved to talk and tell stories and had many cherished friends, including the “Fab-Five.”
When she was in elementary school, Kaylee was a Girl Scout. Kaylee had also found love for the sport of cheerleading, beginning in the 1st grade, and cheered for Dakota Spirit. She loved listening to music, especially Taylor Swift and Katy Perry. She enjoyed reading and one of her favorites was the Harry Potter series. In middle school, Kaylee enjoyed playing the clarinet in band and singing in her school choir. Cheerleading and spending time with her friends and cousins were truly Kaylee’s greatest passions.
Grateful for having shared her life are her father, Philip Torgerson of Harrisburg, paternal grandmother Linda Torgerson; dear cousins, Grace Florey, Lauryn Kuipers, Case Kuipers, Ben Kellar, Mallory Kellar, Seth Torgerson, Kortney Torgerson, Andrew Ladhani, Anna Ladhani, Jaylyn Torgerson and Masyn Torgerson; best friends, Kaci Jordon, Delaney Thompson, Josie Burkett, Stella Disbrow and Lila Anderson; her cherished cats, Kimber and Kitty; many fond aunts, uncles and other family members.
Kaylee was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Roger and Carol Florey; paternal grandfather, Myron Torgerson; and her mother, Jennifer Torgerson.
A visitation with family present was held on Friday, December 16, at Shalom Lutheran Church, Harrisburg.
Funeral service was held on Saturday, December 17, at the Harrisburg High School in the Performing Arts Center, reception followed in the High School Commons, Harrisburg. A private graveside service took place at Pleasant View Cemetery, Harrisburg.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family, where they will be deciding on charities that will honor both Kaylee and Jennifer’s lives.
