Sioux Falls, SD

Marian was born on June 24, 1936, the first born child of eight to Andrew and Amelia (Eide) Vant Hul in Flandreau. The family lived in Flandreau and Egan while their father served in the U.S. Army during WWII. Upon his return, the family moved to a farm near Toronto.

Marian received her education in country school Hillside #9 near Toronto and high school in Astoria, graduating from Astoria High School in 1954. While in school, Marian participated in mixed chorus, plays, the girls glee club and the booster club. She also played volleyball and softball.

Marian was united in marriage with Richard “Pete” Duane Peterson on May 24, 1957, in Ft. Pierre. Pete worked on bridge construction and the couple lived in various towns in South Dakota and were blessed with two daughters, Dolores and Darla. The family made their home in Sioux Falls in 1966.

Marian entered the workforce in 1974 at American Western (now Tyco Plastics) where she enjoyed working until her retirement in 2014. Marian moved to Morgan Lane Village in 2017 where she lived until moving into Good Samaritan Society Luther Manor in September of 2020.

Marian’s greatest joy in life were her family. She always thought of others needs before her own. She was always willing to lend a helping hand and will be greatly missed by all.

Having been blessed to be part of her life are her two daughters, Dolores “Dee” Peterson of Sioux Falls and Darla (David) Tuch of Hartford, SD; three grandchildren, Chris (Kristy) Brandsgaard, Sioux Falls, Stacy (Collin Pearson) Tuch, Alcester  nd Michael Tuch, Sioux Falls; two great-granddaughters; one great great-grandson; four brothers, Roger Vant Hul, Roland (Marlys) Vant Hul, Verlin “Dick” (Elizabeth) Vant Hul, all of Sioux Falls, and Dennis “George” Vant Hul, Trent; and numerous nieces and nephews.
