Robert “Bob” Fred Phinney, son of Fred and Lucille (Perrenoud) Phinney, was born on April 15, 1924, in Sioux Falls. He graduated from Hartford High School in 1942. He attended SDSU in Brookings for a semester and returned to the farm in the Hartford area.

Bob was united in marriage with Lois Randall on February 16, 1947, in Sioux Falls. They were blessed with four children, Robert, Linda, Randy and Cynthia.

They moved to Sioux Falls, where he worked for Van’s Implement in Colton and was a partner in the Feed and Fertilizer Business. He later sold yearbooks and graduation supplies to high schools in Eastern South Dakota. Bob also enjoyed fishing, train collecting and Pitch Club. He held offices at East Side Lutheran Church, a member of the B.O.P. Elk’s and Sioux Falls Noon Sertoma Club.

Grateful for having shared his life are his two daughters, Cynthia Habermann and husband Jon, Rochester, Minn., Linda Cady and husband Mike, Cumming, Ga., one son, Randall Phinney, Lake City, Fla.; 12 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.

He was proceeded in death by his parents, Fred and Lucille; two sisters, Mildred Phinney and Betty Wettestad; a son, Robert Phinney and his wife, Lois.

Funeral services will be at 10:30 am Saturday, May 1, 2021, at Miller Funeral Home-Downtown, 507 S. Main Ave., Sioux Falls, with interment next to his wife, Lois, at Woodlawn Cemetery, Sioux Falls.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends will be from 3-5 pm Friday, April 30, at the funeral home.
