Steven Troy Kollis, son of William and Mary (Van Marel) Kollis, was born May 5, 1975, in Rock Valley, Iowa. As a young boy, the family moved to Schindler where he began school in Harrisburg. He later transferred to Sioux Falls Christian School. Steven graduated from Roosevelt High School in 1994. After graduating, he started working at Menards and then transitioned to Sioux Falls Towers.
Steven was united in marriage with Kristin Anderson on August 24, 2002. To this union, they were blessed with two children Annika and Aiden.
He enlisted into the South Dakota Army National Guard. He served active duty in Afghanistan. Following his honorable discharge, he worked at Overhead Door Company, Rosenbauer Fire and A-1 Electric Steven was currently working at Ace Hardware in Hartford.
Steven enjoyed gardening, hunting, fishing, camping, driving around with his kids and taking his dog, Ruth, on walks. Steven and Aiden had fun building rockets together. Steven and Annika enjoyed getting Little Caesars Pizza together while listening to Taylor Swift. He loved to watch all of his children’s activities and games. Steven loved having family time. He even made time to attend his niece’s soccer games. He was loved for being a jokester, prankster and the overall family comedian.
Steven enjoyed his many projects in which he would text his family about all the time. He was a self-learned handyman who always got the job done.
Grateful for having shared his life are his children, Annika and Aiden Kollis, Lennox; his parents, William (Carol) Kollis and Mary (Don) Palmquist; his two sisters, Lisa (Jason) Young and Renee (David) Eliason, all of Sioux Falls; nieces and nephew, Allison, Jamie, Daniel Young, Samantha (Aaron) Bruns and their children, Bailey, Rebecca and Bentley; and a host of other relatives and friends.
Steve was preceded in death by his beloved sister, Shannon Kollis.
The funeral service was held July 29, 2021, at Good News Church, 1800 S. Valley View Road, Sioux Falls. There will be a private family burial at Woodlawn Cemetery in Sioux Falls.
