Students in Mrs. Nester’s art class decorated pillowcases for the American Legion Auxiliary’s Operation Pillowcase. At the American Legion Auxiliary Girls’ State last June, the girls decorated pillowcases to be given to military service people when deployed. Department president, Teresa Huntimer, presented the 152nd Combat Sustainment Support Battalion in Pierre with the Girls’ State pillowcases. President Huntimer has since been asked if she has any more pillowcases. It broke her heart to say there were no more left. Thus, Operation Pillowcase began, and Auxiliary units throughout the state are joining the project. Sheryl Siemonsma was in charge of our project, and asked Mrs. Nester if she was interested in having her students participate, which she was. The Auxiliary thanks Mrs. Nester and the students for the great job they did.
