This week, the burgers we are informed about are the burgers at the Hartford Steak Co. Tavern and Main Street Humboldt Bar (MSHB).
The Hartford Steak Co. Tavern is rolling into the battle with the Bucking Bronco Burger. According to General Manager/Owner Kristin Friese-Blaine, this burger is their in-house fresh ground patty, topped with their slow roasted prime rib, melted together with pepper jack cheese, all smothered in a homemade sweet and tangy sauce, topped with fried onion. This burger is served on a brioche bun with lettuce and Friese-Blaine said, “It’s Bucking Good!”
Friese-Blaine explained their cook of 10 years, Skylar Vaughan, came up with the ingredients and placed and name for the burger this year.
“We try to stay true to our concept! Keeping it simple, yet bringing out a creative side with our ingredients,” Friese-Blaine said. She concluded, “We enjoy the challenge and appreciate all of the participation!”
This year, the MSHB has entered the Hartford Area Burger Battle Challenge with the Sweet Chili Burger. According to MSHB Media Manager Kelly O’Gorman, this burger has a unique Asian flair that makes it a sweet, savory, tangy and spicy flavored sensation. “We have taken our famous, thick, juicy burger and smothered it with Sweet Chili Sauce, Mozzarella cheese and a dash of our secret seasoning! Who can resist?” O’Gorman said.
O’Gorman explained the team members were discussing what would make a unique burger and came up with the idea of using the popular Asian sweet chili sauce on a burger. “After some tweaking, we came up with a burger that is a delight to the taste buds,” O’Gorman explained.
“The sweet and tangy Asian flavors set this burger apart from the competition,” said O’Gorman. “Stop in any time to try our Sweet Chili Burger. We are open daily from 10 am to 2 am, serving food right up until we close at 2 am.”
Big J’s Roadhouse chose not to comment with regards to the burger battle.
When taking on the burger battle, remember to take a photo of the burger, post it on Facebook, Twitter or Instagram and included #HartfordBurgerBattle to be eligible for a weekly drawing of $25 Hartford Bucks.
