Approximately 150 family members and friends were able to enjoy some food, socializing and music during the Hartford Area Downtown Block Party that was put on by the Hartford Area Chamber of Commerce.
The event took place on Wednesday, July 21, and was the first time the Chamber put on the event.
The Chamber provided a meal to Chamber members as a thank you to them for their support, according to Chamber and Economic Development Director Amy Farr. She further explained the members of the event committee also wanted to include the public as a thank you for shopping local.
The GOAT offered the Chamber meal in the Gage House/Senior Citizens Center and Big J’s, the Dugout and Buffalo Ridge Brewing was available for the public. Children could spend their time on the inflatables along with bean bag games available for community members while The Goodroad Band performed during the event.
After taking tickets at the beginning of the event, Chamber committee member Dr. Joel Martens of ChiroSport P.C., said he was able to get out to socialize and enjoy the band. “My favorite part was Goodroad. They play such good music and are very interactive with the crowd,” Dr. Martens said. He concluded, “We, as a whole group (Chamber committee), were extremely pleased with the turn out! We hope to keep building off of it!”
When asked if they will be looking to hold the block party again next year, Farr said, “Absolutely!” She continued, “Thank you to our Chamber members for their sponsorships that helped make this event a success!”
