PIERRE, S.D. – Thursday, January 7, the South Dakota Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) announced the Board of Water and Natural Resources has approved a $7,510,000 Drinking Water State Revolving Fund loan for the Minnehaha Community Water Corporation (MCWC) to expand its water storage capacity and upgrade its distribution system.

The loan will be administered through the Department of Environment and Natural Resources.

Loan terms are 2.125 percent for 30 years.

The project includes construction of approximately 8.2 miles of 12-inch water transmission main, a 250,000-gallon water tower located near Humboldt, a 750,000-gallon water tower located near Brandon, and a control valve station. The improvements will allow MCWC to increase storage capacity in two separate areas of its distribution system.

The loan will cover the estimated project cost.

The State of South Dakota and the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency fund the Drinking Water State Revolving Fund Program, which provides low-interest loans for public drinking water system projects.

The board met today via remote video connection.
