Several weeks ago, vacancies were announced for area city councils and school boards. Locals who were interested in taking out a petition had until Friday, Feb. 28 to do so.

COLTON

In Colton, two petitions were turned in for Ward 1. The current alderman, Jeff Pedersen, is being challenged by Charles Foster. Because of that, an election will be held on Tuesday, April 14 for Ward 1 residents.

Diann Nesheim, Trevor Bunde and Colby Jensen all ran unopposed. The election will be held in conjunction with Tri-Valley School.

CROOKS

Results were not available as of press time.

HARTFORD

Hartford had three open city council positions, one in each of their three wards. In Ward 1, Mark Brenneman was the only person to file a petition so he will win his seat unopposed. No petitions were filed in Ward 2 so Brittany Glanzer will hold that position until the council appoints someone. In Ward 3, the city received petitions from Gail Olson-Duck and LaVonne Randall. An election, for Ward 3 residents only, is planned for Tuesday, April 14 at City Hall from 7 a.m.-7 p.m.

HUMBOLDT

Five positions were up for election this year in Humboldt but an election will not be held. Petitions were received by town board president, three-year term by Adam Lund, trustee-two year term by Nathan Leonard and trustee, two-year term by Jennifer Leonard.

TRI-VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT

Tri-Valley School District had only one single, three-year tem open this year. Three petitions were turned in from incumbent Dan Schlueter, Ryan Fods and Keith Johnson. The school’s election will be held in conjunction with the City of Crooks on Tuesday, April 14.

WEST CENTRAL SCHOOL DISTRICT

Two vacancies are currently still open at the West Central School District. Interested parties were able to start circulating petitions as of Tuesday, March 3. Petitions must be filed by Friday, April 3 at 5 p.m. with the school business manager or by registered mail with the same deadline. The two open vacancies are from Craig Habben and Paula Hawks. The school’s election is set for Tuesday, May 12.
