The Hartford Area Fire and Rescue will be hosting Public Safety Day on Saturday, August 29, from 11:00 am-2:00pm, at the Hartford Fire Station.

Public Safety Day brings awareness to incident prevention for families and children of all ages.  Numerous activities are planned including fingerprinting, child IDs, and car seat checks from the Minnehaha County Sheriff’s Office, water and outdoor safety information from Game, Fish, and Parks, and poison prevention and pedestrian safety activities from South Dakota Emergency Management Services.  The Humboldt Ambulance and Avera helicopter will also be present.  Included in this day of fun and education will be lots of hands-on stations like a spray house, a fire extinguisher station, and a junior firefighter obstacle course.

Hand sanitizing areas will be available and social distancing will be practiced during the event.

“This is an opportunity for Hartford Area Fire and Rescue and other agencies to showcase our services that we offer to keep our community safe and give them an idea of what we do,” explained Hartford Area Fire and Rescue’s Chenae Billie.

For questions or more information, please contact Chenae Billie at (605) 323-8745.

Look for more activities to be added to the schedule in the next few weeks.
