After deliberation over whether or not to hold the 2020 Humboldt Threshing Show, its board of directors came to a vote and decided to cancel this year’s show.

Bob Hanisch, one of the Threshing Show board members, stated that COVID-19 was a primary factor into not having the show this year, but other community factors played a role.

“Because of [COVID-19], we were not sure how much of a crowd we were going to get.  We survive on donations and we have not been receiving that much. Some of our donors told us that they did not have anything to donate this year.  So we talked about it and thought, “If we don’t have anything, will anyone show up?””

However, Hanisch stated that the board had decided to still hold the tractor drive and a plow day.  According to the Threshing Show board’s official announcement, the tractor drive will leave the threshing site at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 29.  The drive is approximately 45 miles long and should take between five and six hours including pit stops. Food and refreshments on site at the conclusion of the drive.

The plow day will be held Sunday, Aug. 30, at the threshing site beginning at 1 p.m.  Food and refreshments, to be determined, will be provided at the end of the day.

They look forward to next year’s show, Friday, Aug. 13, 2021 through Sunday, Aug. 15, 2021, in which they will feature both Minneapolis Moline and John Deere tractors.
