Wessington Springs 

IIa was born on September 7, 1927, to Lewis and Zida Thompson in Wessington Springs. She attended country school and graduated from Wessington Springs High School. On November 24, 1946, she was united in marriage to Jack J. Warnke in Wessington Springs and to this union three daughters were born.

IIa and Jack made their living for many years farming and raising cattle. IIa also worked for a few years while still helping out on the farm at Bob Patton Grocery store. IIa was an active member of the American Legion, Harmony Friends Ladies Aide and Templeton Church. She volunteered at the library and the museum.

IIa and Jack enjoyed working on the farm together, loved to dance and playing cards with neighbors and friends, reading and going to their kids’ and grandkids’ activities throughout the years. Her pride and joy were her kids and grandkids and enjoyed spending time with them.

She is survived by her three daughters, Deanna “Buffy” (Erik) Edberg of Hartford, Linda (Tom) Grohs of Wessington Springs, Jackie (John) Edberg of Hartford; nine grandchildren; 30 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alma Mohling and Abbie Younie, both of Wessington Springs; and many close relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Jack, sister Betty Burchfield/Castle from Oregon; two brothers, Lauren Thompson and Tom Thompson, both of Wessington Springs.

Her funeral service was held Saturday June 27 at Prospect Hill Cemetery.
