The Hartford Knights of Columbus held its quarterly breakfast on Sunday, January 10, at St. George Catholic Church. Due to COVID-19 concerns, the breakfast was served as drive-thru or carry out.

Though it was run a little differently, this popular breakfast still fed hundreds of hungry families. Pancakes, eggs, bacon, sausage, and cheesy potatoes were all served with the usual smiles and good cheer from members of the Knights of Columbus.

“It was beyond expectation,” said Mark Wegleitner, Grand Knight of the Hartford Knights of Columbus. “It was even more successful than the typical sit-down breakfast. Our community was very generous!”

“We are so happy to be able to still show our support to the community and are grateful for all those who came and supported the breakfast,” commented Knights of Columbus member, David Gooley.

Though the breakfast ran smoothly as a carry out, the Knights are looking forward to getting back to the usual sit-down breakfast with the community. “Our breakfasts are such a community builder,” explained Wegleitner. “They have always been a good parish and town gathering and a place for friends and neighbors to sit and visit and enjoy breakfast.”

The Knights of Columbus planned for weeks on how to make this quarterly event safe for the entire community. “We owe a big thank you to Father King for allowing us to have this new way to serve our breakfasts,” Gooley added.

The next Knights of Columbus breakfast is planned for April.
