Despite COVID-19 altering many things in the past year, the residents at Leisure Living were still able to enjoy a great St. Patrick’s Day thanks to the community.

The residents started off their day with a St. Patrick’s Day surprise visit from the Imagination Station Preschool. According to Tonya Ahrendt, Leisure Living Administrator, she received a call from the preschool asking if they could come by for a visit. “They had quite a walk as their daycare center is at the south end of Main Street!” Ahrendt said.

When Imagination Station Preschool got there, the residents were able to enjoy a few songs that the preschoolers sang to them.

In addition to the surprise visit, the residents received St. Patrick’s Day treats from the family of Becky Bonnichsen Jaspers. Ahrendt said, “The family of Becky Bonnichsen Jaspers has been wonderful about thinking about the Leisure Living residents during the last year and have brought many cards, pictures and treats for the residents.”

Ahrendt explained the residents appreciate the community thinking of them.

The residents were able to enjoy their annual St. Patrick’s Day dinner of corn beef and cabbage to top off their celebration.

Leisure Living has been allowing scheduled visits in a special visitation room for several months and according to Ahrendt, just recently opened to responsible indoor visitation in resident rooms. Ahrendt concluded, “All visitors are screened for COVID-19 symptoms, required to wear face coverings and encouraged to use hand sanitizer found throughout the building.”
