During the Colton city council meeting on Monday, August 10, Weston Blasius, project engineer from Banner Associates in Sioux Falls, spoke to the council regarding a Main Avenue disturbance that will be taking place in the upcoming weeks.

According to Blasius, back when they worked on the 2018 project, a 10-inch pipe was to be installed, but after doing roadside work for the Glenn Avenue project, it was discovered that it was an eight-inch pipe. The replacement would be at no cost to the city because it was a construction mistake.

“It would be all-paid, no cost to the city since it was a construction mistake,” Blasius states.

The construction would take two weeks to replace the 60 feet of pipe and would focus heavily on the Main Avenue and Second Street intersection. The construction would shut down the highway running through town, so Blasius and the council would determine an alternate roof that keeps trucks and heavy machinery off away from local traffic.

An official date for the construction is to be determined.
