On Monday, July 13, the city of Crooks held a city council meeting at the Crooks community center.  Within this meeting, two petitions from the Tri-Valley school district were heard by the council regarding the rezoning of a plot of land straight south of the Crooks community center and a preliminary subdivision plan, which is the city council’s approval of the plot being used for the future Tri-Valley school district.

The plot for discussion sits between 470th street and Hanna Trail.  A new road will be built parallel to 10th street to size out the plot.

The rezoning of the land plot changed the status of the land being classified as agricultural (AG) to single-family residential (R-1). This petition would allow buildings to be built on the land, since agricultural plots cannot host any construction, so this change to single-family residential would allow the school to be built.  The petition was passed by the city council.

After the rezoning proposal was passed, the plot was then petitioned for approval for use as the preliminary subdivision plan of the Tri-Valley school district. The petition was also passed.
