The Tri-Valley National Honor Society hosted a banquet to recognize new National Honor Society members and new officers from both this year and last year April 26.
The banquet gathered about 110 people to celebrate new members of the National Honor Society. Normally, the banquet would have had a turn out between 150 and 200 attendants, but because of capacity restrictions due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, ticket sales were limited.
Juniors and seniors’ names were announced and senior officers were recognized during the banquet.
“The banquet went great… since we had so many new inductees, we still had a big crowd,” said Robin Tyler, the National Honor Society advisor at Tri-Valley.
Vincent Mitchell, the National Honor Society President, was glad to have been able to have the banquet this year since last year’s banquet was canceled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Mitchell gave a short speech at the banquet and handed off his presidential duties to the new National Honor Society president Isaac McFarland. Mitchell also gave out roses to new National Honor Society members.
“My favorite part of the event was the conversations I got to have with the other members while eating cheesecake. I would definitely say the event was a success!” said Mitchell.
“I do think the event was a success, everything went like it was supposed to. It seemed like everyone enjoyed themselves. I saw lots of smiles throughout the evening,” said McFarland, the new National Honor Society President.
