The West Central High School, under the direction of Josh Freier, performed their fall play “She Kills Monsters” by Qui Nguyen this past weekend.
Three performances were held, Thursday evening, Friday evening and Saturday afternoon, for audience members to experience the play.
Although the performances were in November, the students were preparing for this long before November. Freier explained the auditions were held on August 31 and rehearsals ran every day after school up until the first performance on November 4.
This year, there were 24 actors and seven tech crew that was a part of the play. “The number of kids was great, the most we’ve had in recent years,” Freier said. “There were a lot of new freshmen who were part of it, and that was good to see.”
According to Freier, this play involved new things for the students such as a larger amount of fight choreography that had to be done along with the tech students building the dragon for the end.
“I think it (the play) went well,” Freier said. He concluded, “This was one of the more complicated plays we’ve done for fall in a while; a long play with fighting and dancing, and the kids brought it all together very well in the end.”
