West Central school board had their monthly meeting on Monday, October 12. Superintendent Brad Berens provided an update with regards to the 2020-21 Starting Well Plan.
The board discussed the activity protocols due to the rising number of COVID-19 cases in the area. A motion was made by Anna Johnson to move into phase 2 of the activity plan. The motion was seconded by Alexia Klinkhammer. It was determined to move to phase 2 with the “A” option for fans and revising the face covering protocols which will make face masks a requirement.
Phase 2, plan A of the West Central activity protocols indicates the following:
4 event vouchers will be provided to each participant (athlete, coach, manager).
Participants will be responsible for distributing those vouchers.
High school students and staff with a valid school ID will be allowed to enter.
Payment will be taken upon entrance.

West Central school board decided the use of vouchers would begin on Wednesday, October 14. All other stipulations, including wearing a mask, began immediately.
Superintendent Berens also provided an update on the rapid COVID testing. He explained the school had been notified by the Department of Health that they would be receiving rapid test kits but had not been informed how many kits they would receive. Berens said, “I just learned Tuesday that we will receive one kit per enrolled student, which will mean 1,383 kits for us.”
Each district is to decide the criteria for administering the rapid tests and who will be tasked with administering the tests, Berens explained. “Our COVID Coordinator has been working on a plan for administering the rapid tests.”
