Crooks

Bill was born in Clarion, Iowa, to William and Carolyn (Rippentrop) Bruns on March 30, 1967. In 1975, Bill and his family made their home in Sioux Falls and it is here that Bill received his education graduating from Lincoln High School in 1986. He proceeded to go into the Navy for the following five years of his life. After his honorable service in the Navy, Bill worked various jobs up until landing his career at American Technical Services where he worked 20  years as a senior engineering technician.

Bill was united in marriage with Lynn Andera in 1995 and from this union was blessed with a son, William and two daughters, Sidney and Kelsey.

In Bill’s younger days, one of his favorite pastimes was bowling. He participated in bowling leagues for years and he truly loved it. Bill also enjoyed hunting, golfing, grilling and spending time at Brant Lake, where he would spend countless hours waterskiing and pulling the kids around on the innertube and hosting a “Fear Factor” eating competition, shooting off fireworks and training hunting dogs. He also enjoyed playing card games, traveling to Mexico where he could be found scuba diving and cheering on his favorite sports teams such as the Green Bay Packers, Michigan State Spartans and Los Angeles Lakers.

Bill was passionate about music and loved singing along. He could name the song and artist by the first few notes played. He was someone who never failed to bring happiness to others. His smile could light up a room and was always making jokes and embarrassing his kids every time he got the chance. He was truly an amazing father, son, brother, friend and overall great man who was so loved and loved so many. Bill will be greatly missed.

Grateful for having shared his life are his son, William (25) and his fiancé, Lauren Olson (24) of Sioux Falls; two daughters, Sidney (18) and Kelsey (16) both of Crooks. In addition to his children, Bill is also survived by both parents, William and Carolyn Bruns, Sioux Falls; sister, Julie Nase and her husband, Brandon, Hot Springs; significant other, Amy Snyders, Larchwood, Iowa, along with numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives.

Bill was preceded in death by his grandpa and grandma Bruns, grandma Tudy and his sister Kathlene (Bruns) Te Slaa.

Funeral services will be at 1 a.m. on Friday, March 13, at George Boom Funeral Home and On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.
