Minnehaha County Farmers Union hosted “Cooperation: Celebrate the Connections” day camp in Hartford on July 14th. Youth spent the morning focused on learning more about the history of Farmers Union and Cooperatives through fun and engaging activities. These activities also helped the campers build strong communication and team building skills. The campers also enjoyed the 4 Wheeler Safety demonstrations and the Farm Safety trailer with stations on power take off safety and other items. The afternoon was spent playing games, making crafts, and learning more about soil and soil health. Campers had the opportunity to make bracelets that represented each layer of soil and even took their own sample of soil for pH testing. All campers received a T-shirt and a ticket to send in for the SD State Fair. Special thanks to the Hartford City Park for hosting, Myrna Hotchkiss and Edward & Wanda Artz for coordinating the camp, to Minnehaha Co. Farmers Union for sponsoring lunch and snacks, and CHS and Farmers Union Insurance for supplying T-shirts and funding. Thank you to all the campers who came out to join us!
