As the town of Crooks begins their annual flag football season in August, the flag football field has been spruced up by three new additions and projects.  Crooks Flag Football League is a kid’s program for kindergarten through fifth grade.  Todd Myhre, president of the league, speaks on

Two of the main projects were funded by grants that the CFFL board have applied for.  A 25-foot commercial flagpole was installed thanks by a $2500 grant provided by Alliance Communication’s KEEP THE CHANGE grant program.  The second project was new cedar message center, which was made possible by the $1500 round up grant from Sioux Valley Energy.

Crooks residents Judi Person and Sandy Larson donated their time to plant flowers for the landscaping for the flag football area and the Tri-Valley FFA group donated their time and efforts for planting them by the scoreboards, flagpole and cedar message center.

According to Myhre, the next project that the Crooks Flag Football League has planned is new aluminum benches for the sidelines.

“A lot of these kids and their families end up sitting on blankets.  It would make it easier to round them up and keep them all in one place,” Myhre states.

Myhre states that without the help and support of the Crooks and surrounding area communities that these projects would not be possible.

“CFFL is so fortunate to have community members and local businesses who are so supportive of our mission to get these kids out and about.  We would not be here without them.”
