Barbara Bassett, of Sioux Falls, South Dakota, peacefully passed away Friday, May 27 at Bethany Home in Sioux Falls. Barb was 84.
Barbara was born January 15, 1938 to William “Bill” and Viola (Puetz) McDonnell in Montrose, South Dakota.
On March 1, 1957, Barbara was united in marriage to Gilbert “Gib” Bassett. The couple resided in Humboldt, South Dakota and soon became loving parents to three children, Kim, Troy and Mark.
Barb was active in Legion Auxiliary. She loved going to West Central sporting events, however, her greatest passion was spending time with her family especially her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband of 65 years, Gib Bassett; children, Kim (Mike) Regnier, Troy (Colleen) Bassett and Mark (Catherine) Bassett all of Sioux Falls; 8 cherished grandchildren, Matthew (Tera) Regnier, Seth (Katy) Regnier, Travis (Kayla) Bassett, Tara Carruthers, Tyler (Melissa) Bassett, James Bassett, Ryan Bassett and Lily Bassett; 10 dear great-grandchildren; sisters, Jan Dunker, Sheryl (Vern) Wulff and Vic (Bob) Kerkhove; and brothers, Tom McDonnell and Steve (Angela) McDonnell.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to West Central Athletic Booster or Siouxland Libraries.
A memorial service will be held 2:00 PM on Sunday, June 5, 2022 at Humboldt Community Center, 201 S Main St, Humboldt. A celebration of life luncheon immediately following the memorial service.
