Gerald “Jerry” Huls, 80, of Sioux Falls passed away on Wednesday, May 22, 2024.  Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m., Monday, May 27, 2024, at George Boom Funeral Home & On-Site Crematory in Sioux Falls.  Memorial visitation will be from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., Sunday, May 26, 2024, also at the funeral home.
Gerald Huls, son of Maurice and Agnes (Krantz) Huls was born August 12, 1943, in Salem, SD.  He grew up a the farm the youngest of 14 children.  Jerry graduated as the first class at O’Gorman High School in 1962. 
He was united in marriage to LaVonne Spielman on September 8, 1962 at St. Joseph Cathedral in Sioux Falls.  Together they had 3 wonderful children, whom he would do anything for.
He started his working career at Sunshine foods as a bagger and later an assistant manager.  He later attended Mitchell Area VoTech and earned his Electrician License.  He worked for several operations before going out on his own.  He owned CDI Electric Incorporated for many years before his retirement.
Jerry had a lifelong love of cars and music.  His 1931 Ford street rod was his pride and he was affectionately known at “Mr. Music” in his car club.  He spent many hours in his garden watching the birds and tending to his flowers. Other hobbies included  golfing, hunting, fishing, and horses.  His love of the outdoors led to laughter and adventures during camping trips through the years. He especially enjoyed his travels throughout the United States, Mexico, Costa Rica and several Caribbean and Alaskan cruises. Jerry’s humor and love of life will be missed by all who knew him.  Above all he loved spending time with his family.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife, LaVonne of Sioux Falls; children, Brenda and Andy Kibbe of Sioux Falls, Todd and Rhonda Huls of Alexandria, MN and  Kim and Kevin DeNeui of Sioux Falls; five grandchildren, Jamie Huls, Nichole (Dave Perrow) Huls, Amber (Joe Borkhuis) Huls, Jessica DeNeui, and Ben DeNeui; three great grandchildren, Kayne, David, and Aria; sister-in-law, Carol Huls of Sioux Falls; and many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Maurice and Agnes; siblings, Marie and Ray Carmody, Art and Marie Huls, Dorothy and Puthoff, Betty and Leo Gaspar, Margaret and Marty McAvreavey, Vince and Yvonne Huls, Rose Marie and Mac McCoy, Lowell and LaWanda Huls, Lyle Huls, Barb and Darrell Tverberg, Ron Huls, Phyllis Huls, and Donna Jean Huls.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that you provide a memorial that will be shared with local charities.
