The Hartford Area Fire and Rescue’s (HAFR) annual pancake feed might have taken a break last year due to the COVID-19 pandemic but it’s back this year!
Sunday, May 16, community members can once again participate in the free will donation pancake feed that will take place from 8 am to 1 pm at the Hartford Fire Station on 305 South Street.
The pancake feed will feature sausage, scrambled eggs, cheesy potatoes, coffee, juice and of-course, pancakes. In addition to the food, the pancake feed will also be hosting a raffle for both a boys and a girls bike.
Due to the continued concerns with the COVID-19 pandemic, the HAFR pancake feed will provide two options for community members to participate in the pancake feed: Dine in or carry out.
For those that would like to dine in, HAFR will have tables set up six feet apart with the maximum of six people per table. Department members and their families that are helping with the pancake feed will be wearing masks and each table will be wiped down thoroughly between each use. Families will be asked to use social distancing inline while waiting for their food.
There will be a second entrance for any community members to pick up their meals for those that would like to enjoy the pancake feed but would rather carry out than dine in.
Last year, partially due to COVID-19, the HAFR department answered a record number 402 calls which was almost doubled from the previous year. Anyone interested in volunteering for HAFR can ask anyone in a red shirt. They can direct to the person who can answer any questions for you.
