James Leonard Langloss was born on January 6, 1943, in Sioux Falls, to Leonard and Gladys (Sorenson) Langloss. He grew up in Crooks and graduated from Lyons High School in 1961. On June 30, 1962, he married Lila Fossum at West Nidaros Lutheran Church. They settled in Sioux Falls until moving to their new home in Crooks in June of 1967. Jim worked for his dad initially driving the Standard Oil gas truck and running the service station. He then worked for Morrell’s until retiring after 40 years.
Jim enjoyed hunting, playing softball, bowling, playing cards, and coaching baseball. He was a member of the Moose Lodge, a founding member of the Crooks Optimist Club, a lifetime member of West Nidaros Lutheran Church, and a 20-year member of the Crooks Volunteer Fire Department. But of all these things, Jim enjoyed chasing after his grandkids most of all. He loved hanging out with them and attending their events.
