Joye Marie (Petree) Weber passed away peacefully in Brenham, TX, on Saturday, March 25, 2023. Joye was born April 19, 1929, in Salem to Earl and Frances (Deters) Petree. She grew up in Montrose, prior to attending and graduating from Cathedral High School. Joye met recently returned Navy Seaman First Class Roy V. Weber (son of Aaron and Mary Weber) while waitressing at the Nickel Plate in Sioux Falls. They would marry on April 20, 1948, in Sioux Falls and had four children: Larry (Nancy), Belleville, IL, Bradley “Terry” (Linda) Brandon, Timothy (Kathy), Sioux Falls and Karla Schnee, Brookshire, TX. Joye is loved and will be deeply missed by her seventeen grandchildren, thirty seven great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; five  sisters, Karen Tennyson, Marlyce Bernards, Mary Lou (James) Cross, Patricia Wagner and Diann (Clair) Wuebben.

Joye spent most of her in Hartford raising her children and driving the bus for the school district. Her life revolved around her family and social activities. When the kids got older, she worked for Litton Industries as a Quality Control Inspector. Roy and Joye retired to Alvord, IA, in 1990 and spent their winters in Texas with their daughter and her twin boys. After Roy’s death in June 2008, shortly after celebrating their 60th wedding anniversary, Joye move full time to Texas and lived with Karla.

Joye was the grandest of all socialites: “Always on the go and in the know”. She loved getting together with her friends at the Katy Senior Citizen, Carriage Inn Retirement Home (where at the age of 93 became a council member) and High Hope Nursing Facility. She loved playing cards, dominoes, coloring and helping make everyone’s day a little brighter with her sense of humor. Her telephone was her lifeline to her family, although some of the features of today’s smartphones baffled and frustrated her at times.

Joye is preceded in death by her husband, Roy of 60 years; brother, Duane Petree and Dennis Petree; sister Beverly Rowe.

A Memorial Service is for July 15, 2023, at 10:30 a.m. at George Boom Funeral Chapel, Brandon. Her interment will be next to her beloved husband, Roy Weber at St. Mary’s Catholic Cemetery in Alvord, IA.

In lieu of flowers, the family would prefer donations be made to the Joye Weber memorial fund.
