Judith Ellen was born Jan. 8, 1943, in Dell Rapids to parents, Ralph and Viola (Hawk) Van Vooren. She grew up in Dell Rapids and graduated from St. Mary High School.
She married Iver Oien August 25, 1962, at St. Mary Catholic Church in Dell Rapids. After their marriage, they made their home in Baltic where she enjoyed things with the grandkids, suppers with cousins, tending to her flowers and just spending time with her family and husband.
Judie worked as a nurse at the Dell Rapids Hospital, owned and operated the Baltic Café and then worked for Sunderman Manufacturing until her retirement.
Grateful for having shared her life are her husband, Iver, Baltic; children, Beth (Wayne) Hanson, Wentworth; Wendy (Steve) Hartman, Colton; Carrie (Mark) Flaskey, Trent; and Mitchell (Patty) Oien, Baltic; eight grandchildren, Ryan (Annie) Hanson, Jill Hanson, Cody (Kelsey) Hartman, Tyler Baatz, Lake Oien, Cassie Hartman, Cauy Oien, Paige Oien and Tate Flaskey; four great-grandchildren, Hyde Hanson, Laney Hanson, Dash Hanson and Riggen Hartman; brother, Marc (Andrea) Van Vooren, Colman; sister, Lynnette (Terry) Eck, Sioux Falls, and many special cousins and friends.
Judie was preceded in death by her parents, a son, Steven, and brother-in-law, Bill Zeig.
Funeral services were held Monday, June 22, at Baltic Lutheran Church, Baltic. Burial was in the East Nidaros Lutheran Cemetery, rural Baltic.
