Kristina’s Life Story

Kristina Hahn, age 37, of Humboldt passed away June 29, 2023 at home surrounded by her family, after losing her battle with colon cancer.

Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Thursday, July 6, at River Community Church, Dell Rapids. Interment was at Colman Cemetery, Colman.

Visitation with the family present to greet friends was Wednesday, July 5, at Central Valley Community Church, Hartford.

Kristina Faith Hahn was born November 20, 1985 in Sioux Falls to Bryon and Dawn (Larson) Hahn. She was born with Rubinstein-Taybi Syndrome and was blessed to meet the fathers of her syndrome, Dr. Rubinstein and Dr. Taybi from the Cincinnati Center for Development Disabilities. Kristina attended West Central School and graduated from high school in 2005. Following high school, she did various volunteer jobs with Volunteers of America, including stocking shelves in a grocery store, folding laundry at Sioux Valley Hospital, sorting items at the VOA thrift store and working at the zoo feeding various animals.

Kristina was a member of Central Valley Community Church and was attending River Community Church at the time of her death. Kristina was a member of the Speak Easy Toastmaster group in Sioux Falls for several years. She received several awards including The Happiest Toastmaster and The Funniest Joke Master. Kristina participated in Special Olympic for several years and enjoyed the Track and Field events as well as bowling. She participated in several state bowling tournaments with her teammates.

Kristin enjoyed camping, playing with her numerous decks of cards and beads, listening to the Newsboys singing “He Reigns” and “We Believe” and visiting with anyone who stopped by. Kristina always had a smile to share and a warm, meaningful hug to give. She enjoyed traveling to support her brother, Andrew, participate in NCAA collegiate rifle matches. Kristina loved every moment she could spend with Andrew and his wife Jenna, her niece Gwynne and her nephew Colton.

Grateful for having shared her life are her parents, Bryon and Dawn; grandmother Darlene Hahn; brother Andrew and Jenna; niece Gwynne; nephew Colton; her foster sibling Robin and Noah Bowling, Creedance Becker; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. She was preceded in death by her paternal grandfather, Miles Hahn; maternal grandparents, Kenneth and Arlene Larson.
