Mark Wallace Kirschbaum, age 68, passed away on March 6, 2022. He was born in Granite Falls, Minnesota on December 6, 1953, to Eugenia Francis (Halverson) and Wallace Leroy Kirschbaum. He grew up on a farm along the Yellow Medicine River and graduated from Granite Falls Public School in 1972. He received a B. S. degree from Murray State University and a Master’s Degree from Augustana College. He served in the Army from November 1972 to November 1975 in the 101st Airborne Division. He retired from the State of South Dakota in 2008 and worked as an adjunct Professor of History at Nettleton Junior college, Colorado Technical University and Kilian Community College until his full retirement in 2016. In more recent years, he enjoyed serving the Clear Lake Township as a supervisor and working with other members of the Township board.
He married Sandra Dillehay on March 3, 1978, and they had two sons, Nicholas A. Kirschbaum from Sioux Falls and Austin W. Kirschbaum from Humboldt.
He is survived by his wife, two sons, a sister Janet Kirschbaum (Granite Falls, Minn.), one nephew Daniel Kirschbaum (Granite Falls, Minn.) and numerous cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral services will be held at 2 pm at Faith Lutheran Church, 511 South Main, Humboldt. All who want to attend are welcome.
