Wayne Bork, 76 of Humboldt, SD, passed away on Wednesday, February 21, 2024, at the Good Samaritan Society in Canistota.
A funeral service was held at 11 am on Monday, February 26, 2024, at St. Paul Lutheran Church, Humboldt, SD, with burial at the Humboldt Cemetery.
Wayne Gene Bork, son of Alfred and Esther (Horsten) Bork, was born on June 27, 1947, in Sioux Falls, SD. Wayne graduated in 1965 from Lyon High School.
Wayne did a variety of labor work starting with Pepsi in Huron, SD. He later did farm work and enjoyed plowing and discing fields and later doing custom combining. Wayne started working in 1969 for Harvest States in Ellis which later became Cenex or Land O Lakes.
Wayne was united in marriage with Barbara Lowe in 1970 and two children were born to this union. William Edward and Jeanne Marie. Wayne later married Nancy Anderson on November 9, 1996, and they recently celebrated their 25th anniversary in 2021.
After retiring from Land O Lakes, Wayne worked for Nash Finch for seven years.
Wayne was always doing jobs around the house, keeping busy doing lawn work, cleaning, and cooking. In October, Wayne and Nancy were always busy putting up Christmas lights inside and outside. Later working on decorations at the church.
Wayne served as Treasurer for six years at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Humboldt, SD, and later as a handyman for several years. Wayne enjoyed going on trips with Nancy to Spearfish, Black Hills, North Dakota, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Texas.
Wayne accepted four cats in his home with Nancy: Cuddles, Midnite, Gracie, and Miss Molly who was his favorite.
Grateful for having shared his life are his wife Nancy, Humboldt, SD; children William Bork, Sioux Falls, SD, Jeanne Wulff and her husband Chris, Sioux Falls, SD, Damin Jorgenson and his wife Teresa, Las Vegas, NV; sister Inez Buller and her husband Robert, Sioux Falls, SD; brothers Neal Bork and his wife Kris, Nampa, ID, Haldon “HK” Bork and his wife Donna, Kemper, TX; two grandchildren Jayden and Joshua Jorgenson, Las Vegas, NV; and many other relatives and friends.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents Alfred and Esther Bork, a nephew, aunts, uncles, and cousins.
